It’s now official, Virgin are leading the way in terms of broadband speed in the UK market.

Broadband speed is a confusing area with all providers promising “Up to” various levels of Mbits per second when in reality the speeds are rarely reached. Ofcom, the UK communications industries regulator, have stepped in to try and untangle some of the confusion and have published a review on broadband speeds delivered by the UK's biggest broadband providers.

The results of their study with SamKnows ranked the average download speed of Virgin Media's up to 10Mb broadband (their Large package) as almost double the UK average. These results were published in August with plans to repeat the research on an ongoing basis.
