While all of the major telecom and broadband companies in the UK have shown substantial growth over the last few years, Tiscali have been a little more aggressive than most, taking over the UK broadband operations of Pipex in a £210 million deal. This increased exposure has catapulted Tiscali Broadband into the top league of broadband service providers in the UK but there have been problems.

After a very difficult introduction to the UK broadband market, Tiscali Broadband is starting to make a better name for itself with customer satisfaction figures on the up. While the acquisition of Pipex seemed to make commercial sense, there seem to have been a number of issues with the transfer of systems and the conversion of clients to the new company. This was heavily covered in the industry press and customer numbers did suffer from the fallout.

Thankfully Tiscali has now been able to input some of their own expertise and experience into the enlarged operation and Pipex services and customers are all fully bedded into the enlarged group. Their simple yet affective broadband packages have attracted a number of new clients, many of whom have migrated from other companies in the sector.
