While BT has been the UK leader in landline telephone services, the internet and mobile phone operations, they have attracted a great deal of controversy over the years with regards to the “opening up" of their network as they were order to by the industry regulator. However, after a number of years of wrangling the situation is now very much moving forward and while they lost custom initially, they are more than holding their own in the UK broadband market.

The service has been known by a number of different names in the past which include BT Yahoo! Broadband, BT Openworld and BT Broadband, but it now seems that the company has decided on BT Total Broadband as the name for the future. As you would expect from one of the major telephone service providers in the UK, BT has been able to offer a large number of add-on services to sweeten the deal for their broadband customers.
