TalkTalk Broadband, which is currently part of the Carphone Warehouse group, is rumoured to be about to launch a four part bundle package which will give customers access to broadband, landline telephone services, mobile telephone services and broadband TV. This would place the company in direct competition with Virgin Media which is currently offering the same type of bundled packages to its customers.
The subject of broadband TV is one which attracts many different views and comments with some suggesting the market is not ready yet while others believe the technology is ready and demand is growing. Whatever the situation at the moment there is no doubt that traditional media delivery systems such as TV will merge with the Internet in the medium to longer term. This will reduce delivery costs, give access to more homes around the world and create a whole new market.
TalkTalk Broadband will soon be demerged from the Carphone Warehouse group and those “in the know” believe this is when the company will launch its new four part bundle package to gain maximum publicity. There is no doubt that the UK broadband market is on the verge of a major shakeup in the short to medium term with major players now fighting each other on many different fronts.
