In a new development which will capture the hearts and minds of many people in the UK, and around the world, the Sky TV satellite company has joined forces with Xbox 360 to allow users access to Sky channels on their Xbox. All you need is a very simple 2 Mb broadband connection, a Sky TV or Sky Player subscription and an Xbox 360 with LIVE Gold membership. Then it is simply case of connecting your machine to the Internet and you have access to Sky Sports on your Xbox 360!

For those with multiroom or broadband unlimited there is the option to watch Sky Sports one, two, three and Sky Sports Xtra. This is a major development in the broadband sector and bringing together Sky Sports, and similar channels, together with the Xbox 360 is a massive move for both companies. There is no doubt this is just the first of a number of similar deals within the sector as entertainment and the Internet become closer entwined than ever before.

It seems only a matter of time before we see some “mega mergers” with regards to entertainment and Internet-based companies. This has been rumoured for many years and slowly but surely we are nearing the end game for this particular phase of growth and development in the broadband sector.
