As more and more people choose to work from home, via their broadband Internet link, it would appear that in the future there could be pressure on the traditional office arena environment. More and more businesses are now waking up to the fact that reducing office space and increasing the number of people working “on the move” and from home is having a significant impact upon their cost base. So is the traditional office arena really under threat?
For many businesses where interaction with work colleagues is non-essential we will see an increase in the number of people working from home and a reduction in business costs. However, there are many areas of the UK economy where interaction between work colleagues is essential and indeed many people work together on various tasks and projects. While the likes of O2 mobile broadband, Orange mobile broadband and the other major mobile broadband companies are grabbing a slice of the business sector, we do in fact have two separate business arenas within the business environment – those who can work away from the office and those who need to work within the office. However, whichever arena you work in there is no doubt that the Internet is becoming an ever more vital tool!
