Over the last few years we have seen the likes of Sky broadband, AOL broadband, BT broadband, Orange broadband and an array of other well-known companies taking a larger and larger share of the UK broadband sector. The sector itself is now on the crest of a wave of change which will see mobile broadband become more accessible and reliable and also see a significant increase in land line broadband speed. So is investment in the broadband sector a unique opportunity?

Many experts now believe that an investment into the UK broadband sector is ultimately an investment into the UK infrastructure. This is perhaps the reason why the likes of BT, Sky and other companies are willing to pour millions upon millions of pounds into the sector in the knowledge that they will create a unique situation for themselves in the future. The Internet is already a major element of everyday life for the vast majority of people in the UK, whether for personal use or business use, and this is set to grow.

It is highly likely that the UK government and the UK regulators will take a more hands-on approach in the future due to the fact that those operating in the broadband sector can and do impact upon the lives of many people each and every day.
