While to the vast majority of those in the UK with access to broadband the idea of Internet TV is something which has probably never crossed their minds it looks as though Internet TV is ready to hit the mass market. Despite attempts in the past to attract the attention of UK consumers, UK businesses and the broadband industry as a whole there have been various technological drawbacks and restrictions with regards to the introduction of mass-market Internet TV.

However, the superfast broadband network currently under construction by British Telecom will offer the perfect media delivery system for Internet TV and other services which until now have not been able to transfer to cyberspace. There are various issues with regards to bandwidth and the cost of Internet TV but with the UK economy currently leaving one of the worst recessions in living history we may soon be moving back into the boom times.

Advertising income will be central to the future success of Internet TV although the fact that many TVs in the UK can access the Internet already is an excellent starting point. The switch to Internet TV will not be cheap, will not happen overnight but many experts believe it is only a matter of time once the superfast broadband network is in place and providers begin to spoon feed the idea of Internet TV to their customers.
