Apple is rumoured to be on the lookout and in talks with UK mobile phone networks regarding the forthcoming launch of its new tablet computer iSlate which is causing as much excitement as the iPhone did. While details of the product, and indeed the name has not officially been announced, are shrouded in secrecy it is believed that the iSlate will allow users to surf the web, watch TV on the move and read digitised media such as magazines and newspapers.

While the product will almost certainly have short-range WiFi capabilities, Apple is looking for a prominent and strong UK mobile broadband network provider to cover UK requirements. It is believed that mobile phone network companies around the world are literally “falling over themselves” to become the lead partner of Apple in their local markets.

As mobile broadband services in the UK continue to develop and grow it is inevitable that we will see many more of these new devices which will ultimately depend upon WiFi broadband and mobile broadband connectivity. It appears that we are now entering a new phase in the development of the UK, and the worldwide, broadband market, one which is certain to be exciting and full of surprises!
