It has been revealed by two independent market research organisations (EITO and GSMA) that the UK mobile broadband market is leading Europe forward with above average growth expected in the short to medium term. While the rest of the world is engulfed by the ongoing worldwide recession, it appears that mobile broadband providers are at this point in time fairly recession proof, if that is at all possible.

UK mobile broadband revenues are expected to increase by 3.8% this year to around 26 billion with an increase in mobile data service turnover expected in the region of 9.8% with a value of 7.1 billion. The UK mobile broadband industry has been among the more revolutionary in Europe with a number of mobile broadband providers teaming up with well-known laptop manufacturers to gain access to new customers at the earliest possible opportunity.

Industry estimates suggest that only 100 million of the 4 billion mobile connections around the world have access to mobile broadband at the moment. However, when you consider the 4 billion mobile connections and 1.1 billion fixed broadband line connections there is significant opportunity for growth in the mobile broadband industry for many years to come.

Mobile broadband providers could become ever more popular in the future and we are sure to see complementary industries tying up with such companies as 3 mobile broadband and Orange mobile broadband to name but a couple.
