It has been revealed that UK mobile phone operator 3, will this week announce record sales of more than 1 million mobile broadband dongles as the latest must have gadget grabs the attention of more and more UK consumers. In essence, the dongle allows mobile broadband access anywhere that receives a mobile network signal and is proving ever popular in the business and personal use market.
Companies such as 3 mobile are starting to push the boundaries of the mobile broadband sector with many experts suggesting they are becoming a real threat to BT and other landline broadband companies. However, as we have mentioned in the past, a number of experts also feel that mobile broadband access and mobile broadband speeds across the UK do not pose an immediate threat to more traditional broadband providers but there is significant potential for the future.
Mobile broadband in the UK has moved ahead in leaps and bounds over the last 12 months even though the UK economy is currently experiencing one of the worst recessions in living memory. Consumers are still willing to take on board new technology which will improve their broadband coverage and the business arena is seeing mobile broadband more and more as a necessity than an option.
