BT broadband has this week announced plans to increase the BT Openzone network which will bring increased wireless broadband capacity to the UK market. This growing division of BT has signed an agreement with the Camping and Caravan club as well as Pontins which will see holidaymakers gain access to wireless broadband facilities up and down the UK.
When you consider there are currently over 400,000 hotspots in the UK, where wireless broadband connections are available, this is becoming a more prominent area of the market and one which the likes of BT broadband are looking to stake a major claim in for the future. There is no doubt that more and more broadband users in the UK require mobile broadband connectivity, and the tourist market is an area of particular growth.
We are seeing more and more broadband partnerships emerge in the UK with the more prominent broadband providers keen to make their services as visible and as accessible as possible. As we have mentioned on numerous occasions, the more investment required to stay up with developments in the UK broadband market the greater the likelihood that smaller broadband providers will fall by the wayside. This is no doubt an issue which will be very prominent in the thoughts of the telecom regulator OFCOM.
