While UK mobile network operators 3 Mobile has been at the forefront of a number of mobile internet developments of late the group has surpassed itself with a very interesting and potentially very useful wireless router. All you need to do is plug your 3G broadband dongle into the router and you automatically have a Wi-Fi hotspot you can use to service any number of computers in your house.
The router cost around £70 and the basic 3G mobile broadband service around £30 a month which comes with 15GB of monthly allowance. Not only does the 3 Mobile router allow you to create your own Wi-Fi hotspot but it also allows you to spread your monthly allowance among the computers in your home thereby cutting down on potential connection costs.
This is an interesting alternative to the traditional broadband wireless services which are on the market at the moment and give 3 Mobile another way in which to attack the fixed line broadband market . We have seen an increase in activity between the two sectors of late and it appears that battle lines have been drawn for the future.
While it looks as though the mobile broadband groups are dictating both the fixed and mobile markets at the moment, do not expect the fixed line operators to sit back give their business away.
