In an attempt to increase yet further the company’s exposure to the UK broadband market, TalkTalk (a subsidiary of Carphone Warehouse) has introduced a free connection promotion which will save new customers £29.99. As competition in the UK broadband sector continues to increase this move by TalkTalk is no surprise and is sure to catch the attention of consumers across the country.

As a consequence of the free connection promotion the basic TalkTalk broadband package will now cost £17.74 per month and include broadband speeds of up to 8 Mb per second, 40 GB of monthly download allowance, landline rental, free router and technical support. When you also consider the acquisition of the Tiscali UK broadband operation by parent company Carphone Warehouse it looks as though the company has major plans to strengthen position in the UK broadband industry.

The Tiscali deal has the potential to propel Carphone Warehouse to number one in the broadband sector in the UK and lay down a significant marker for the company’s competitors. Slowly but surely the larger broadband providers in the UK are pulling away from the niche broadband market providers and the smaller operations. Whether the regulator will let this continue forever and a day remains to be seen.
