O2 mobile broadband has released its latest short-term price reduction which will see the cost of an O2 USB modem reduced from £29 and £14.67. However, those looking to take advantage of this attractive deal will need to act quickly as it will expire on 29 June when the cost will revert back to £29.
This one-off payment will allow mobile broadband users to surf the web using a daily pay-as-you-go plan, weekly pay-as-you-go option or monthly broadband contract. The announcement has caught the attention of the mass-market due to the fact that not only have the USB modem prices been slashed but the mobile broadband contract can be terminated with just 30 days notice and no financial penalties. This is O2 mobile broadband’s latest attempt to grab the attention of broadband users around the UK and it appears to be doing the trick.
Whether we will see many more of these short-term high impact broadband offers remains to be seen but it does seem to be increasing the profile of O2 mobile broadband in what is an ever more competitive marketplace. Even though mobile broadband has not yet gained mass acceptance in the Internet community it is certainly starting to make inroads into more traditional landline broadband services.
