While the fight to dominate the mobile broadband airwaves of the UK looks set to become more aggressive over the next couple of years it seems as though the likes of Vodafone and more recently Orange are taking a growing share.
Orange has always been one of the proactive mobile broadband providers of the UK and the move to integrate Orange 3G modems or external dongles into a range of laptops seems to be paying off. The service is available on a select number of HP laptops but we hear that this will soon be expanded to take in the HTC Shift miniature laptop.
The feedback received by Orange suggests that more and more business and private laptop users want a one stop service whereby they just boot up and the options are there. This ease of access has proved beneficial to Vodafone and it looks like proving as beneficial to Orange in the battle to attract mobile broadband users.
Due to cost constraints at the moment there is no mass take up across the whole business arena but as prices fall and demand for mobile broadband grows it seems inevitable that this will change. Quite how many UK mobile broadband providers will be able to step up to the challenge remains to be seen.
