In a move which could be replicated in many other areas of business, it has been announced that BT broadband has signed a deal with Starbucks, the renowned coffee retailer, which will see Wi-Fi access across 650 stores in the UK and Ireland. The move will allow 4.6 million BT broadband customers the ability to make calls and surf the Internet while sipping a coffee at Starbucks, with the rollout of the service set to start this week.
Slowly but surely broadband is ingratiating itself into more and more areas of society and business. The move which sees BT broadband and Starbucks tie you up is beneficial to both parties and is likely to increase the profile of BT still further. As we covered in one of our earlier post, British Telecom has revamped itself over the last few months and the broadband service is attracting more customers back to the company than ever before.
We can expect more and more tie-ups between business and broadband providers in the UK and across the world as they are often mutually beneficial to both parties. We have seen broadband providers tie-up with laptop manufacturers, general retailers and with more and more Wi-Fi hotspots available in UK there are few towns and cities you can walk down without picking up a Wi-Fi connection.
