With more and more people working from home and more and more people working for themselves we have seen a significant increase in the number of smaller businesses with online exposure, but are you making the best use of the World Wide Web?

The beauty of the Internet is fact that even the smallest companies, whether selling services or products, can reach the far-flung areas of the world simply by targeting specific keywords and key areas on an ongoing basis. However, one thing that many people forget is the fact that you could have the best Internet site in the world but ultimately if your customers do not know where you are and cannot find you then this is a complete waste of money.

It is essential for anybody working online, and using the ever-growing broadband connectivity available in the UK, to find a balance between a quality website and quality search engine optimisation. It is essential that you know your market, know your keywords, know your limits and know your strengths. Offering a service which you cannot provide in a timely manner is crazy but then again offering a service which is cheap but makes no money is just as bad.

If you have an online exposure you need to find a balance between cost of your website, marketing costs, the cost of your products and services and ultimately profitability.
